Quotes and Reviews
*"A Few Brittle Leaves" by Sky Gilbert
"The applause might have been taken as a compliment for costume designer Sheree Tams, since the Pie sisters are played by men. Even so, they look straight out of an old Britcom, or one of Barbara Pym's social comedies."
TORONTOIST

"Sheree Tams's costumes are a fantastical mix of playful and threateningly nebulous forms"

"A pulsating, unforgetable piece of theatre...the beauty and truthfulness of its images will linger many years"
Robert Crew, THE TORONTO STAR

"An exciting and evovocative night of theatre, blending imagery, movement and drama in a powerful way"
Atom Egoyan, DIRECTOR/FILMAKER

"Sheree Tams has created both set and costumes that serve the story with breathtaking simplicity and efficiency" TORONTO SUN

"Sheree Tams' set design--rows of white washing hanging against the upstage scrim evokes the domestic lives of women worldwide. The Last 15 Seconds reminds us of the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters left behind as men make war."
VANCOUVER COURIER

Most inspired design choice (for 2012): the hanging laundry in The Last 15 Seconds (at the Canoe Festival), a domestic backdrop for the exploration of the mind of a suicide bomber which becomes a kind of sculptural wall in the course of the show, from Kitchener's MT Space.
EDMONTON JOURNAL

"My Dinner With Casey Donovan" by Sky Gilbert

"decked out in Sheree Tams’s snug period costumes, the stage is set for a farce about repressed sexuality that could shed light on today’s red state-vs.-blue climate: Guess Who’s Coming Out At Dinner?"

"Get Away" by Greg MacArthur, Directed by David Dorrian

"The Set is interestingly just trees in a wood which carries an unreal terror" BLANCHE MARVIN

"It looks as it the set has been inspired by The Blair Witch Project, all mist, fallen leaves and jagged tree stumps. Amid over-luminous leaves" TIME OUT

Sheree Tams' setting fills the Old Red Lion's tiny stage, creating an environment both crowded and sinister.” GATE REVIEW

"Presented allegorically, it is set in something that looks a little like a petrified forest, intriguing signs are pinned here and there, a Monopoly set lies incongruously on top of one of the tree stumps - well designed by Sheree Tams" THE STAGE

"Sheree Tams' story-book scary wood set design captures vividly the tension between the exterior and interior landscapes of the play" THE BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE

"A Busby Berkeley extravaganza - except everyone has balls and there are no gowns or heels, just men in boaters and summery clothing beautifully designed by Sheree Tams." Bateman Reviews

Revengers Tragedy by Thomas Middleton

“The incredible costumes had more than a few members of the audience jealous to try them on, with the flamboyant regalia sported by Tom Parker-Brooks standing out in particular. Contemporary attire really brought the play to life, creating a Jacobean world in the centre of modern London. All the while the subtle manipulations of the set continually seemed to expand and enhance the stage-space, with stair-ways and alcoves appearing seemingly out of nowhere. “

Sive Curran, THE ELIZABETHAN
